ASIMO
Honda ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) is the pioneering humanoid robot that ushered in the modern era of bipedal robotics. Final version unveiled November 2011 stands 130cm tall, weighs 48kg, featuring 57 degrees of freedom including 13 DOF hands with tactile and force sensors. Capable of running 9 km/h, backwards locomotion, continuous jumping, and one-foot hopping. Equipped with dual cameras for face/gesture recognition, ultrasonic and infrared sensors. Powered by 51.8V lithium-ion battery with 1-hour runtime. Despite discontinuation in July 2018 and final appearance March 2022, ASIMO remains iconic symbol of advanced humanoid robotics research.
