That’s why a panel at the Boao Forum for Asia (Mar 25, 2026) landed on a frustratingly wide prediction: a humanoid-robot “ChatGPT moment” could arrive in as little as two years, or as long as a decade. The panelists converged on the same root causes: training data scale, reliability, dexterity, and safe operation outside demos — plus the awkward question of who is responsible when a robot makes a costly mistake.

If you want a simple set of leading indicators, here is what matters.

1) Fleet scale and learning loops

  • How many robots are deployed in the wild?
  • Do they have safe data collection and update pipelines?

2) Task onboarding speed

  • Can a customer teach new tasks via demonstration or natural language?
  • Is there a robust skill library?
